Three types of ingredients are required to make this simple homemade lasagna. Ingredients for meat sauce, ingredients for the white sauce and also the additional ingredients-

Ingredients for Meat Sauce 

Beef/ Mutton (1 lb)

To make this pasta recipe, you need 1 pound of mutton or beef. We would like to use beef. You can use your favorite one. Take 1 pound of ground beef. 

Chili Flakes (1 Tbsp)

For an additional flavor in the meat sauce, chili flakes is a great heating element. You need 1 tbsp of chili flakes.  

Black Pepper (½ Tsp)

Like the chili flacks, black pepper powder is another flavor-influencing agent. We’ll add ½ tsp of black pepper powder to get an extraordinary flavor in the meat sauce. This flavor will enhance the taste as well. 

Olive Oil (3 Tbsp)

To make the meat sauce, you’ll need 2 tbsp of olive oil. If you have no olive oil, take the vegetable or regular cooking oil.

Onion (1 Large)

To make the meat sauce, you need a huge amount of onion. So take a large onion and chop it into thin slices. 

Garlic ( 4 Cloves)

When taking garlic, you must mince them. Not chopped garlic, like onion, can be used in this recipe. Take 4 cloves of minced garlic for a pleasant smell.

Salt(1Tsp)

Adding 1 tsp of salt will be perfect, as you’ll add cheddar cheese later in the recipe. Because the cheddar cheese is pretty salty.

Tomatoes (800 Grams)

Take 800 grams of tomatoes and wash them properly. After that, chop the tomatoes into thin slices. 

Water (2 Cups)

You’ll also need 2 cups of water. 

Seasoning (1 Tbsp)

If you use fresh seasoning, which means the mixture of thyme, rosemary, basil, and parsley, take 1 tbsp. Take the fresh thyme, basil, and parsley and chop them. 

However, if you don’t have fresh seasoning, take the store-bought Italian dry seasoning. At this point, you’ll need 2 tbsp.

Ingredients for White Sauce 

Whole Milk (4 Cups)

Take 4 cups of cold milk to make your white sauce. 

Butter (4 Tbsp)

Take 4 tbsp of melted butter. 

Nutmeg (½ Tsp)

White sauce without nutmeg won’t be flavorful. So, take ½ tsp of nutmeg.

Salt (½ Tsp)

Salt you need to add in the white sauce very small amount. ½ tsp of salt will be perfect. 

Flour (4 Tbsp)

To make the white sauce, you must take flour. For today’s recipe, 4 tbsp of flour will make the white sauce. 

Additional Ingredients 

Lasagna Sheet

You must purchase a packet of lasagna sheets. It’s a rectangle shape sheet of pasta. Adding these sheets will make your lasagna recipe a perfect dish. 

Fresh Mozzarella (8 Slices)

Take 8 slices of fresh mozzarella.

Mozzarella Cheese & Cheddar Cheese (1 Cup Each)

Take 1 cup of grated mozzarella cheese and 1 cup of cheddar cheese.  These two elements will make the recipe sticky. 

How to Make Lasagna Pasta?

Like you categorize the ingredients into three parts, you’ll have to make the recipe in two parts as well. We’ll make the meat sauce first-

Meat Sauce

Within only 3 simple steps, your meat sauce will be ready. Let’s check out how-

Step-1

Put olive oil, garlic, onion, and chili flakes in your deep-bottom saucepan. Mix them and let them be softened at medium heat for 1 minute. 

Step-2

Once the onion, garlic, and chili flakes become soft, add ground meat and stir. Ground meat comes with a strong chunk. Therefore, ensure the chunks are mixed properly. Stir and sauté the meat with onion and garlic for 10 minutes. Let it be light brown.

Step-3

Add black pepper powder, salt, chopped tomatoes, fresh seasonings of thyme, rosemary, basil, and parsley to the sautéed meat and mix properly. Keep mixing all the elements together and ensure a good mixture. 

This time, add water and continue stirring for 30 seconds to mix all the ingredients with one another properly. Now lid on the saucepan and cook for 30 minutes. 

Step-4

Lid off the saucepan and stir the meat sauce once. It’s ready. Transfer the meat sauce to a bowl and keep it aside for later use. At this stage, you need to go for white sauce. 

White Sauce

Step-1

Put a pan on the stove and put butter on it. Let the butter melt if you didn’t take the melted butter. Keep the heat medium-low. Once the butter is melted, add flour to the pan and mix it well. 

Keep sautéing the flour with butter for 5 minutes at medium-low heat. The flour and butter will be thickened enough after 5 minutes of sautéing time. 

Step-2

Add milk to the flour and keep stirring. Continue stirring to mix the milk and flour. Make a smooth mixture. Now add nutmeg and salt. Keep mixing for 1 minute and let the liquid thicken a bit. 

However, you shouldn’t let it thicken excessively as it will be thickened automatically while cold. 

NB: You should pour the milk into the pan quickly to prevent lumps or chunks.

Step-3

Transfer the white sauce to another bowl. This time, all you need is to layer up your San Giorgio lasagna dish.

San Giorgio Lasagna

With four layers of the prepared ingredients, you can give the final touch to your lasagna recipe. Here’s how-

Step-1: First Layer

Take a baking sheet or tin with a rectangular shape and layer 3 tbsp of white sauce. Spread the sauce evenly in the entire tin bottom. Now make another layer with the lasagna sheets. Put the lasagna sheets one after another. 

Add 4 tbsp of meat sauce and spread evenly on the top of the lasagna sheets. Make sure you spread it nicely over the sheets. Now again, spread 2 tbsp of white sauce over the meat sauce evenly. Add mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese on top of the white sauce. 

Step-2: Second Layer

Once you’ve made the first layer, you’ll have to make the second layer of your lasagna recipe. To make the second layer, start layering the lasagna sheets. Then spread the 2 tbsp of meat sauce over the lasagna sheet. Then, in the same way as before, spread 2 tbsp of white sauce and spread well in all the corners. Add then the mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese. 

Step-3: Third & Fourth Layer

Make your third and fourth layers as same as the way you made the first and second layers. There are no changes in making the third and fourth layers of your lasagna dish.

Once you finish making the layers, your recipe is ready to bake.

Step-4: Layer the Mozzarella Slices

Spread the slices of fresh mozzarella on top of the fourth layer and insert a toothpick into each of the mozzarella slices.

Step-5: Cover with Foil Paper

You’re almost done making the lasagna recipe. Now cover the entire baking pan with foil paper.

Step-6: Bake the Pan of Lasagna 

Bake the dish at 190°C in the oven for 45 minutes. However, in these 45 minutes, you’ll have to bake it for the first 30 minutes covered with foil paper. And rest 15 minutes uncovered. 

Step-7: Cool Down the Lasagna

Remove the baking pan from the oven and let it cool for 30 minutes. Your dish quick lasagna is ready to serve. Remove the toothpick and cut the lasagna into a square shape, and serve.

Instructions

For Meat Sauce

  • Transfer the white sauce to another bowl and set aside.

For San Giorgio Lasagna

  • Take a baking sheet or tin with a rectangular shape and layer 3 tbsp of white sauce. Spread the sauce evenly in the entire tin bottom. Now make another layer with the lasagna sheets. Put the lasagna sheets one after another.
  • Add 4 tbsp of meat sauce and spread evenly on the top of the lasagna sheets. Make sure you spread it nicely over the sheets. Now again, spread 2 tbsp of white sauce over the meat sauce evenly. Add mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese on top of the white sauce.
  • Make your second, third, and fourth layers as same as the way you made the first one.
  • Spread the slices of fresh mozzarella on top of the fourth layer and insert a toothpick into each of the mozzarella slices.
  • Now cover the entire baking pan with foil paper.
  • Bake the dish at 190°C in the oven for 45 minutes.
  • Bake it for the first 30 minutes covered with foil paper. And rest 15 minutes uncovered.
  • Remove the baking pan from the oven and let it cool for 30 minutes.
  • Your dish is ready to serve.
  • Remove the toothpicks.
  • Cut the lasagna into a square shape, and serve.

  • Adding eggs will make the lasagna tastier and also will add protein and vitamins.
  • You also can add herbs like coriander for more flavor.
  • To make the meat sauce highly rich, you can substitute the beef with pork sausage.
