The egg rolls recipe is one of my favorite dishes ever. Depending on where you reside, your egg rolls can vary in its taste. Like if you go for the Texas egg rolls recipe, you’ll have to use veggies of different kinds. It can be shredded cabbage, carrot, hamburgers, etc. 

Again, if you go for the Southern egg rolls recipe, you’ll need spinach, chicken, or cayenne.  This way, the taste and flavor of the egg rolls differ from region to region.

Using cheddar cheese, cream cheese, onion, or garlic, this dish can be delicious. The ingredients that you’ll need are-

Shredded Cabbage (2 Cups)

Take shredded cabbage of 2 cups. You must take fresh cabbage for this dish. Cabbage will make this dish delicious. 

Carrot (1 Cup)

Like cabbage, you’ll have to take 1 cup of shredded carrot. We recommend boiling the carrot for 2 minutes. It will remove the raw smell. However, it’s not mandatory and you can skip boiling. 

Chopped Onion (1 Cup)

To get a nice and strong flavor, take 1 cup of chopped onion. 

Jalapeno (¼ Cup)

Adding jalapeno will increase the taste of your egg rolls especially if you like heat. So, take ¼ cup of chopped jalapeno. If you like more heat in your recipe, increase the amount. However, you shouldn’t add excessive heat while serving the egg rolls to kids. 

Cream Cheese & Cheddar Cheese(1 Cup)

To make the mixture thicker, you must use a cream-type element. In this case, the cream cheese will be the best considering its flavor. So, take 1 cup of cream cheese of any brand. Keep the cream cheese a room temperature to allow it to soften up. You’ll also need to take 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.

We’ll make 6 servings today. So, take 10 egg rolls wrapper. It will be a great job if you take the store-bought egg rolls wrapper. It will save you time. Or you can make using the flour dough.

Remember, the egg rolls wrapper and the spring rolls wrapper aren’t the same. You must take the egg rolls wrapper for this recipe. 

Garlic Powder (½ Tsp)

It’s optional to add garlic powder. We would like to add this ingredient for a strong flavor to our recipe. So, we’ll take ½ tsp of garlic powder.

Oil (2 Cups)

The oil you need to fry the rolls. Here 2 cups of oil will be perfect. Frying them into the canola oil will deliver a good flavor. But it can be substituted with any cooking oil. 

Pepper Jelly (¼ Cup)

Just to bring an added taste, you need the pepper jelly. You have the option to skip this ingredient. If you want to add this ingredient, take ¼ cup of jelly. Don’t take much because it has a hot flavor. 

How to Make Texas Egg Rolls?

Making this recipe is as same as other rolls type. Here’s how to make it-

Step-1

Put a skillet on the stove at medium-low heat and pour oil into it.

Take a mixing bowl and put cream cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, chopped onion, shredded cabbage, carrot, and jalapeno.

Now mix them all together. You can use a hand mixture, It will faster your process. Or can mix them using your hands.

Step-4

Now it seems a bit tricky to those who try it for the first time. However, it’s extremely easy to fold cream cheese egg roll with the wrapper. Here’s how-

Take 1 Tbsp of Mixture in the Wrapper

Now put the rolls into the skillet and fry them for 10 minutes at low heat. Fry them in dip oil. And your Texas egg rolls recipe is ready to serve. Serve them with pepper jelly.

  • 2 Cups Shredded Cabbage

  • Prepare the rolls using wrappers. Put the filling inside each of the wrappers
  • Now put the rolls into the skillet and fry for 10 minutes at low heat. Flip up halfway

  • Serve them with pepper jelly

Tips

  • Adding green onion will bring more flavor
  • You can add parsley for an added taste
  • Serve with chili sauce, and jalapeno sauce if want to get heat
