You need a lot of ingredients, though, these all are very common pantry ingredients. You won’t be troubled arranging them. The ingredients that you need are-

Ground Beef (2 Pounds)

Usually, tacos are made of fish, chicken, or meat. However, the Chicos tacos recipe is made of beef, so we’ll take 2 pounds of beef and finely grind them.

Black Pepper (1 Tsp) 

For a mild flavor, you need to take 1 tsp of black pepper. 

Chicken Bouillon Mix (2 Tsp)

And when you add chicken bouillon mix powder, it will increase the taste tremendously. This chicken bouillon mix will be required for both beef making and also sauce making. So, take 2 tsp of this mixing powder. 

Chopped Onion (½ Cup)

Take fresh onions and chop them into small slices. Take ½ cup of chopped onions.

Fresh Garlic (6 Cloves)

Adding garlic cloves to the tomato sauce and green jalapeno sauce brings a strong flavor. So, we’ll take 4 fresh garlic cloves to make these two different types of sauces. 

Regular Cooking Oil( 1 Cup)

To fry the tortilla and also to cook the beef filling, you will need 1 cup of cooking oil. If you want a nice flavor in your recipe, take olive oil or vegetable oil instead. You also can use canola oil for this recipe. Take whatever is available.  

Corn Tortilla (40)

More than 50 tortillas can be made with 2 pounds of beef. Our dish will be prepared for 8 servings. So, we’ll take 40 tortillas to serve 5 tacos for each serving.  You also can take wheat tortillas. 

Salt (2 Tsp)

Take salt according to your preference. We’ll take 2 tsp. 

Onion Powder & Garlic Powder (1 Tsp Each) 

You can either use minced onion and garlic or can use powder. So, take 1 tsp of onion powder/ minced paste. Also, you’ll need 1 tsp of garlic powder. 

Tomatoes (6)

Tomato sauce is another attraction for adding to the Chicos tacos. It makes the recipe more delicious. Therefore, Chicos always serve their tacos with tomato sauce and jalapenos sauce. To make your tomato sauce, you’ll need 6 promo tomatoes. 

Serrano Pepper (5)

To make the tomato sauce and green sauce, you’ll also need 5 serranos.

Jalapenos & Tomatillos (3 & 5 respectively)

Making the green sauce requires you to take 3 and 5 tomatillos.

Peeled Tomato Sauce(1 Can)

You also need 1 can of whole peeled tomato sauce. This will be necessary to make the tomato sauce.  

How to Make Rolled Tacos?

Making this recipe requires 3 different steps where you need to make rolled tacos, tomato sauces and lastly, you need to make jalapenos green sauce. We’ll help you learn to make them all with ease. Here’s how to make this recipe-

Step-1

Heat on your stove and put the pan in. Brush oil in your pan. Take the bowl of ground beef and put the beef in the pan. Add black pepper, garlic powder, and 1 tsp chicken bouillon mix powder. Keep stirring to mix them all, and cook for 10 minutes.

When the beef looks light brown, add chopped onion. Now cook and stir for 10 minutes more at medium-high heat. Once the beef is cooked, remove the pan from the stove.

This time put a frying pan on the stove and heat up the tortillas. Keep the heat medium-low. Or the tortillas will be burnt.

If the tortillas are ready, add 2 tbsp of cooked beef to the tortillas and roll them up.

You must use a toothpick while rolling up the tortillas. Toothpick will seal them and the beef won’t fall out. Look at the picture below and do the same.

It’s now time to fry the rolled tortillas. Put the pan on the stove and let it warm for 30 seconds. Put oil and let the oil warm for 1 minute. This time fry the tortillas. Fry them in batches and fry 4 pieces at a time.

Once they are fried, remove them from the pan and place them on a dish. Spread a paper towel on the dish before placing the tortillas. The paper towel will strain the grease.

Your tortillas are ready. Now go for making the tomato sauce. So, put a pan with 3 cups of water. Add tomatoes and serranos and boil them for 10 minutes.

Now take your blender and put boiled tomatoes, 3 serranos, 4 garlic cloves, a whole can of peeled tomato sauce. ¼ onion piece, 1 tsp of chicken bouillon mix,  1 tsp of salt. Now blend all the ingredients and make a smooth mixture.

At this stage, put a pan on the stove and add 2 tbsp of oil, and put the blended mixture. Add 6 cups of water.  Bring them to a boil for 5 minutes at medium-high heat. Make sure it’s getting thicker.

Your tomato sauce is ready. Now transfer it to a bowl and keep it aside. 

Step-10

The last part of Chicos Tacos is to make the green jalapenos sauce. So, put a pan on the stove and add 3 cups of water. Put jalapenos, tomatillos, and 2 serranos. Boil them for 10 minutes.

Put all the boiled elements in a blender.  Add half a cup of water, 2 garlic cloves, 1 tsp of salt.

Now blend them well. When finished, transfer the blended green sauce to a small bowl. You are done making your Chicos Tacos recipe. Now you need to serve them in a good presentation. 

Step-12

Take a serving dish and spread 2 tbsp of shredded cheddar cheese. Put 5 tacos on the shredded cheese on a single layer. Now give 2 tbsp of tomato sauce and 2 tbsp of green sauce over the tacos. Your dish is ready to serve.

Instructions

  • Now make your green jalapenos sauce. So, put a pan on the stove and add 3 cups of water. Boil jalapenos, tomatillos, and 2 serranos for 10 minutes.
  • Now blend the boiled elements, half a cup of water, garlic cloves, and salt.
  • You are done.
  • Take a serving dish and decorate the dish to serve.

Tips

  • You must heat up the tortillas before rolling with the filling. Or, the tortillas will break.
  • Salsa is the best way to make your chicos tacos more delicious. In this case, you can add the jalapeno salsa that we added to our recipe. Or go with peanut salsa with Morita pepper.
  • When tacos come with good flavor, it becomes tastier. Try adding all the flavorful ingredients like wheat tortillas, fresh onion, and fresh herbs. etc.
  • Instead of topping your Mexican rolled tacos with tomato sauce and green sauce, add a lime wedge, onion rings, sliced radish, or shredded spinach .
  • Make sure your toppings come with a good flavor to overpower your recipe.
  • Ground beef is the most suitable and best meat to make this recipe. However, you can use ground or shredded chicken instead.

How To Roll Taquitos?

It’s simple to roll the tortillas while making tacos. All you need is to put the filling on the edge of a tortilla. We strongly recommend not to put the filling in the middle of your tortilla.
