Potatoes – starch is an important element for a creamy and smooth soup. And what else can provide a nice starchy texture other than potatoes? You will need 2 cups of potatoes, nicely diced. 

Powdered chicken base – the chicken broth is flavorful and full of spice. You will need 2 tbsp of powdered chicken base. Of course, you can use vegetable base too. 

Celery – the bright color will add beautiful vibrance to the recipe. Here, 1 cup of chopped celery will do. 

Ginger – Minced ginger will boost the taste at a higher level. 2 tbsp of minced ginger. 

Garlic – a must-have. Freshly chopped 2 tbsp of garlic. 

Onion – Onion gives the soup a herby texture. ½ cup of onion, chopped will suffice. 

Cornstarch – The basic ingredient for soup. Cornstarch helps the soup to be thick and creamy. You will need 3 ounces of cornstarch, mixed with water. 

Cilantro – cilantro is the specialty of the Dixie Crossroads special shrimp soup recipe. It gives the soup a refreshing, earthy flavor. Use 2 tbsp of freshly minced cilantro. 

Clam juice – since it is a seafood soup, clam juice will add an extra flavor of the sea. 8 ounces of clam juice will do. 

Soy sauce – 1 tsp of soy sauce will add some Asian-fusion flavor. 

Water – 2 quarts of water. You may need to adjust the measurement according to the thickness level.

Salt and pepper – 1 tsp or according to taste. 

How to Make Dixie Crossroads Shrimp Soup?

Step 1: boil 2 quarts of water in a soup pot on high flame. 

Step 2: When the water is bubbling, lower the heat to medium-high and add chicken or vegetable base. 

Step 3: Now, drop the chopped celery, potatoes, ginger, garlic, and onions. 

Step 4: Wait till the vegetable are cooked thoroughly. 

Step 5: Now, add the cooked rock shrimps into the concoction and boil the mixture on high flame again. 

Step 6: Add the clam juice and soy sauce.

Step 9: Start adding the cornstarch gradually and stir continuously. 

Step 10: Stir and add the cornstarch until reaching your desired consistency. If it thickens too much, add water. 

Step 11: Add salt and pepper. Be mindful of the salt since soy sauce has been added. 

Step 12: turn off the heat and garnish the soup with remaining cilantro.
