Alton Brown Shepherd’s Pie Ingredients

You have to collect a number of cooking elements to make this recipe. But, all the elements are pantry ingredients. So you can collect them effortlessly. Here’s the list of ingredients you require-

Russet Potatoes (1 Pound)

Take 1 pound of russet potatoes and peel them. Wash the potatoes and chop them into small pieces.

Black Pepper (¼, ½ Tsp)

For an added flavor, take ¼ tsp of black pepper to make your mashed potatoes. And to make the meat filling, you’ll need freshly ground black pepper of ½ tsp.

Butter (2 Ounces)

Applying unsalted butter will make this recipe creamy and tasty. Ensure you have taken high-quality butter. Take 2 ounces of the total.

Egg (1)

Only 1 egg is required to cook Alton’s recipe. However, you need only the egg yolk, not the egg white.

Half-and-Half (1 Cup)

Take 1 cup of half-and-half to add to mashed potato.

Kosher Salt (¾, 1  Tsp)

It’s slightly saltier than regular white salt. Therefore, you need less than regular salt. Here, you’ll need ¾ tsp of salt to prepare mashed potatoes and 1 tsp for making the meat filling. So, use the salt carefully with accurate measurements.

Onion (1 Cup)

Take 1 cup of chopped onion to make the meat filling.

Garlic (2 Cloves)

Only 2 garlic cloves are enough to get a mild flavor. Take the cloves and mince them.

Canola Oil (2 Tbsp)

Using ordinary cooking oil won’t give any extra flavor. Canola oil has an extraordinary flavor that makes the pie recipe more delicious.

All-Purpose Flour & Tomato Paste (2 Tsp Each)

This 2 tbsp of flour and tomato paste will be required for the meat filling.

Rosemary & Thyme Leaves (2 & 1 Tbsp respectively)

Take fresh rosemary leaves of 2 tsp, wash, and chop them. You’ll also need 1 tsp of freshly chopped thyme leaves.

Carrots (1 Cup)

For 1 cup of carrots, nearly 2 carrots are perfect. Take the carrots, and dice them into small pieces. Take 1 cup of chopped carrots in a bowl and keep it aside for later use.

Chicken Broth (1 Cup)

While making the meat filling, you need to make the gravy with chicken broth. So, take 1 cup of chicken broth.

Ground Lamb (1 ½ Pounds)

The main attraction of Alton’s pie recipe is the meat filling. And to make this filling, you’ll require 1 ½ pounds of ground lamb meat.

Corn Kernels & Fresh Peas (½ Cup Each)

Take ½ cup of fresh peas and ½ cup of corn kernels.

Worcestershire Sauce (1 Tbsp)

To increase the taste of meat filling, adding Worcestershire sauce is a must-add ingredient.
