Chilean Sea Bass (1 Pound)

Purchase a packet of Chilean sea bass of 1 pound. You also can use fresh bass. Now take the 1 pound of Chilean bass and cut it into less than 1-inch thick pieces. No need to remove the skin for this recipe. Still, if you prefer having skinless fillets, removing the skin won’t make any difference.  

 Miso (1 Tbsp)

Miso is a Japanese cooking ingredient used to increase flavor in recipes. It’s a combination of soya beans and rice. Miso is also made of soya beans and barley sometimes. It’s a paste of these two elements. 

Your Miso will deliver a variety of flavors, for example, umami, savory, funky, toasty, sweet, and salty. So, adding miso to your dish will undoubtedly provide a different delicious taste. 

Mirin (2 Tbsp)

You’ll also need 2 tbsp of mirin. It’s another Japanese cooking element that has been used to increase the flavor of the recipes. Mirin is a kind of rice wine made of lower alcohol and higher sugar content. Only 2 tbsp of mirin will be required for your today’s recipe. However, if you haven’t mirin at home, substitute it with sweet marsala or dry sherry. 

Chinese BBQ Pork Sauce (2 Tbsp)

The BBQ Chinese sauce is necessary to add caramelized flavor to the recipe. At maximum times, it comes with no extra food color. However, the Chinese BBQ pork sauce gets a natural chocolatey brown color.

How to Cook Chilean Sea Bass in Oven?

In only 4 effortless steps, your recipe will be done. And, you need only mixing, seasoning, and baking. All these procedures are extremely easy and time-saving. 


In a mixing bowl, take BBQ sauce, Miso, and mirin and stir for 5 minutes to mix them properly. After 5 minutes of stirring, if you see the mixture isn’t smooth yet, keep stirring for 3 more minutes. 


Now take the Chilean bass pieces and coat them into the sauce mixture. Keep poking the pieces with a fork on both sides. It will allow the fillets to season well. Once you are done seasoning the pieces in the sauce mixture, refrigerate them for 10 minutes at least. 

NB: To season the Chilean sea bass more nicely, refrigerate them for 3 days. It will increase the taste. And bake on the day you want to serve them.


Take a baking pan and spread foil paper over the pan. Now grease the sheet with butter or cooking oil.  This time, put the seasoned bass pieces on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 400° F. Flip up halfway and make sure both sides are baked properly.
