Kevin Belton has always been our favorite chef for seafood recipes. We do love his seafood recipes from the “Kevin Belton’s New Orleans Celebration.” And one day Kevin did surprise us with shrimp fritters. Well, if you can make fritters from anything, why not use seafood? Not to mention, the Kevin Belton Shrimp Fritters Recipe is great.

We made these Kevin Belton shrimp fritters at home. And they came out just perfect. Actually, adding a little beer made this shrimp fritter amazing. Now, let’s have a look at this unique main course from Chef Kevin Bolton.

How to Make Beer Batter Shrimp?

Just like we said, the twist on this beer batter recipe is the beer. Making this recipe is pretty simple as you are just frying them. Well, we can easily make fritters with just about any ingredients. But Kevin used seafood for a more delicious recipe.

So, how to make the best beer batter shrimp at home? The secret to it is preparing the beer batter. Well, we can prepare these fritters in both sweet and savory flavors. Of course, the seasonings will decide the flavors on your fritters.

One thing is for sure, the fritters will have onion, chopped shrimp, all-purpose flour, and other seasonings. For the seasonings, we will be adding cajun seasonings and cayenne pepper. Finally, adding 1 cup of beer will be the twist in the tale.

So, it’s important to prepare the Kevin Belton shrimp and grits batter. Once the batter is prepared, we need to dip fry them in vegetable oil. And we have to make sure the oil’s temperature is right. If the oil is too hot, the fritters will burn. And if the oil is not hot enough, the fritters will get mushy and soft.

There are reports about soggy fritters they made at home. It’s because if you carelessly add too much batter (like flour or egg white), your fritters will leech a lot of water. So, people with minimum cooking skills can follow our measurements for a perfect and crispy fritter.

So, let’s move on to the preparation process for our beer shrimp fritters.

How to Prepare the Kevin Belton Beer Batter?

It’s important to prepare the batter for our shrimp fritters. In order to make a perfect batter, we have to keep the consistency right. Otherwise, the final fritters will be soggy. There are multiple things we need to ensure before frying our beer batter shrimp.

First, we have to keep the batter from falling off of shrimp. That’s why we have to refrigerate the batter for two hours. All the batter inside will harden so that they don’t fall off.

Keeping these things in mind, we have to collect the ingredients. Beer is an important ingredient for our shrimp fritters. Now, what kind of beer is perfect for our kevin belton shrimp and grits? Using carbonated beer is best for our recipe. We don’t have to use a lot of beer on the batter. But you should get carbonated beer for the batter.

Ingredients We Need for Our Fritters

Carbonated Beer: We will add 1 cup of carbonated or warm beer into the batter. Adding beer will make our fritters fluffier.

All-purpose Flour: For the shrimp fritters batter, we will add 1 cup of all-purpose flour.

Cayenne Pepper: Adding 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper adds a little kick into your fritters. Also, cayenne pepper helps in your digestive system.

Salt: For our batter, we need 1 tablespoon of salt.

Black Pepper: 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper can enhance the flavors in your fritters. It will also add a little spicy kick to your shrimp fritters.

Shrimp: Clean 2 cups of shrimp and chop them into small pieces.

Cajun Seasoning: Cajun seasonings can amp the flavors in your shrimp.

Green Onions: You have to chop 1/2 cup of green onions. The onions will add sweet flavors to your fritters.

Parsley: Chop and prepare 1/2 cup of parsley for aroma and mind flavors.

Garlic: Mince 1 teaspoon full of garlic cloves.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1: Take a bowl to mix all-purpose flour, beer, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. This is the batter for our beer batter shrimp fritters.

Step 2: Keep the mixture aside for at least 4 hours.

Step 3: Now get a container and put the chopped shrimp. Then, sprinkle a pinch of cajun seasoning on them. Make sure the shrimps are coated evenly.

Step 4: Refrigerate the shrimp until it’s ready for the batter.

Step 5: After four hours, bring out the ingredients from the fridge. Combine shrimp, green onions, parsley, and minced garlic with the batter.

Step 6: Turn on the stove and keep the heat on medium. Place a skillet over the stove and add about 2 inches of vegetable oil.

Step 7: You can use a teaspoon to drop in teaspoon sizes of batter into the hot oil. Make sure you cook both sides evenly ensuring golden brown shrimp fritters.
Step 8: Remove them from the skillet and drain excess water using a paper towel.
