Butter (4 Tbsp)

Adding butter will give an extraordinary flavor to your dish. So, you need to take 4 tbsp of butter. Here, 2 tbsp of butter will be required to make the cream mixture, and another 2 tbsp to sauté spinach.

Flour (1 Tbsp)

The creamed spinach comes with a creamy texture. To thicken the recipe, you need to add 2 tbsp of flour. You can apply any kind of flour whatever you have. 

Half and Half (1 ½ Cups)

A mixture of cream and milk together is called half and half. In this ingredient the amount of milk and cream becomes equal. You’ll get this available in your nearby supershop. Adding half and half will make a creamy and milky flavor. It will also increase the taste. However, if you don’t find half and half, substitute it with cream. 

Chopped Onion (1 Cup)

How to Make Fleming’s Creamed Spinach?

The cooking method of this spicy creamed spinach recipe is extremely easy. With only a few spices and creams, you easily can make this dish. So, here you go-

Step-1

Put your skillet on the stove and put 2 tbsp of butter in it. Let the butter melt on low heat. Once the butter is melted, add flour and keep stirring to mix well. Stir for 2 minutes and the mixture of butter and flour will become golden.

Step-2

When your butter and flour get a good texture, add onion, chicken broth, half and half, salt, and pepper. Keep stirring for 10 minutes at medium-high heat. Allow the mixture to become thick. 

Step-3

When the mixture looks thickened, add cream cheese and continue mixing.  And then, remove the pan from the stove and keep it aside. 

Step-4

Put another skillet on your stove and put butter in the remaining 2 tbsp of butter. And let the butter melt for a minute at low heat. When the butter is melted, add spinach, salt, and ½ tsp of pepper powder. Saute for 5 minutes at medium-low heat.  

Step-5

Your spinach is ready to mix with the cream mixture. Now add the sauteed spinach with the cream mixture and mix well.

Step-6

Your creamed spinach with cream cheese is ready to enjoy. Serve it with any of the side dishes. Or you can serve as the appetizer.

  • To add more brightness and a light tangy flavor, add 1 tbsp of lemon juice to your dish.
