Sauté garlic, onion, and chili flakes in olive oil in your deep-bottom saucepan at medium heat for 1 minute.
Add ground meat and stir for 10 minutes. Let it be light brown.
After that, add black pepper powder, salt, chopped tomatoes, fresh seasonings of thyme, rosemary, basil, and parsley to the sautéed meat and mix properly.
This time, add water and continue stirring for 30 seconds to mix.
Now lid on the saucepan and cook for 30 minutes.
Lid off the saucepan and stir the meat sauce once. It’s ready. Transfer the meat sauce to a bowl and keep it aside for later use.
For White Sauce
Let the butter melt on another pan on your stove. Keep the heat medium-low.
Add flour to the pan and sautéing for 5 minutes.
Add milk to the flour and stir for 1 minute. Your white sauce is ready.
Transfer the white sauce to another bowl and set aside.
For San Giorgio Lasagna
Take a baking sheet or tin with a rectangular shape and layer 3 tbsp of white sauce. Spread the sauce evenly in the entire tin bottom. Now make another layer with the lasagna sheets. Put the lasagna sheets one after another.
Add 4 tbsp of meat sauce and spread evenly on the top of the lasagna sheets. Make sure you spread it nicely over the sheets. Now again, spread 2 tbsp of white sauce over the meat sauce evenly. Add mozzarella cheese and cheddar cheese on top of the white sauce.
Make your second, third, and fourth layers as same as the way you made the first one.
Spread the slices of fresh mozzarella on top of the fourth layer and insert a toothpick into each of the mozzarella slices.
Now cover the entire baking pan with foil paper.
Bake the dish at 190°C in the oven for 45 minutes.
Bake it for the first 30 minutes covered with foil paper. And rest 15 minutes uncovered.
Remove the baking pan from the oven and let it cool for 30 minutes.
Your dish is ready to serve.
Remove the toothpicks.
Cut the lasagna into a square shape, and serve.
Tips
Adding eggs will make the lasagna tastier and also will add protein and vitamins.
You also can add herbs like coriander for more flavor.
To make the meat sauce highly rich, you can substitute the beef with pork sausage.
